Once existing in entirely different universes, the worlds of luxury and video games have begun to blend as Louis Vuitton pioneers the newest frontier in luxury branding with the announcement of a two-year partnership between the fashion giant and Riot Games, the developer behind multiplayer online video game "League of Legends." In just 10 years, Legends has grown to become the most-played PC game in the world with a peak of eight million daily users.

Rather than simply inserting a logo in the game, Louis Vuitton artistic director for women’s collections Nicolas Ghesquière is designing a series of exclusive champion skins — items players can use to change their appearance in game — in addition to a capsule collection and other League of Legends digital assets in time for League's annual esports finals in Paris, November 2019. The partnership will continue through the 2020 finals.

The standout item in development for Louis Vuitton's first foray into video games can actually be found in the real world. Louis Vuitton is designing a travel trophy case to hold the Summoner's Cup, the "League of Legends" Championship trophy, one of the most prestigious prizes in epsorts. To date, this one-of-a-kind trophy case is the largest of its kind Louis Vuitton has designed.
