BFKN is proud to announce that John M. Geiringer has been appointed to the Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission, where he will contribute his experience and dedication to preserving the memory of past atrocities and promoting education on these critical issues.

“I am honored to have been appointed by Governor Pritzker to the Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission. I hope that my experience teaching and writing about legal issues surrounding the Holocaust and genocide, and as the child of a Holocaust survivor, will allow me to contribute meaningfully to its crucial mission.  I remain grateful to BFKN for encouraging its lawyers to use their skills to make the world a better place.” — John M. Geiringer

John is a nationally recognized banking attorney who advises financial institutions on regulatory, governance, and investigative matters. He serves as the founding Co-Director of the Center for National Security and Human Rights Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he teaches classes on banking, national security, and the Holocaust, and is the co-editor of a forthcoming legal treatise on the Holocaust. John’s appointment reflects his deep commitment to ethical leadership, public service, and historical education.

The Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission promotes and provides guidance on Holocaust and genocide education and commemoration across the state. The Commission offers educators and public and private institutions information and recommendations regarding Holocaust and genocide educational programs, materials, and resources.
