Barack Ferrazzano is pleased to announce that Financial Institutions Group Partner and Regulatory Section Leader John M. Geiringer was chosen as this year’s recipient of The Frank Simpson III Award by the American Bar Association’s Banking Law Committee. This prestigious honor is bestowed annually to a lawyer who has contributed significantly to the area over the course of their career.
John has been involved in Committee leadership for nearly twenty years, and now follows the tradition of Barack Ferrazzano Senior Counsel Karol K. Sparks, a former Chair of the Committee, who received the award in 1997. He advises a wide variety of financial institutions around the country about the full spectrum of the legal, regulatory, supervisory, and investigative issues that they face, including safety and soundness, compliance, anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism, and operations. Working at the forefront of banking law and regulation, John also is a thought leader in the field, primarily through teaching, writing, and frequent media interviews. He is a frequent speaker on issues surrounding banking regulations, examinations, and enforcement actions, as well as cybersecurity and national security.

About the ABA Banking Law Committee
The Banking Law Committee is the principal ABA Business Law Section Committee dealing with laws relating to financial services activities conducted through banks, regulated non-bank financial institutions, and third parties engaging with bank and non-bank financial institutions as service providers, partners, and in other key capacities. The Committee has approximately 2,300 members from financial institutions, law firms, government agencies, trade associations, and related firms and organizations around the country.
