Overview

First Women's Bank celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its flagship location in Chicago. The Bank is a purpose-driven commercial bank that is women-founded, women‑owned and women-led with a strategic focus on serving the women's economy. It is also the first new bank in the State of Illinois in more than a decade. The Bank will serve a national lending and deposit market from a single location in Chicago at 1308 North Elston Avenue through a modern, digital banking experience.

"Small business owners support their families, their employees and their communities—we've formed First Women's Bank to support them," said Marianne Markowitz, President and CEO of First Women's Bank.

BFKN’s Financial Institutions Group represented First Women’s Bank in connection with its formation and capital raise.

BFKN’s team was led by Brent McCauley, Emily N. Henkel, Dennis R. Wendte, and Cindy C. Wang. Executive compensation and human resources matters were handled by Andrew K. Strimaitis and Allison N. Powers.
