Overview
The Barack Ferrazzano Financial Institutions Group acted as legal counsel for First Busey Corporation ("Busey") (NASDAQ:BUSE), the holding company for Busey Bank, which announced the completion of its merger with First Community Financial Partners, Inc., the holding company for First Community Financial Bank, which was previously announced on February 6, 2017. This acquisition allows Busey access to the thriving southwest suburban markets of the greater Chicagoland area. Following the merger, Busey is approximately a $7 billion financial holding company.
Both Busey Bank and First Community Financial Bank were named among the top performing small-cap banks and thrifts by Sandler O'Neill + Partners, L.P. in 2016. Of the 26 selected nation-wide, they were the only two Illinois banks to be named.
