BFKN is pleased to welcome Michael J. Poland to the firm as a partner in our Compensation & Employment Group. Mike routinely advises clients on various executive compensation and employee benefit matters, as well as the employee benefit aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Mike also advises clients on the design, implementation and operation of equity and cash incentive programs, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and tax-qualified retirement plans. Mike regularly prepares and negotiates executive employment and severance agreements and advises clients on ERISA’s fiduciary and prohibited transaction provisions.  Additionally, he counsels private equity, real estate, and other private funds on ERISA regulatory considerations in connection with fund formation, investment structuring and other investment management activities. Prior to joining BFKN, Mike was Counsel in the compensation practice at a leading international law firm.

BFKN’s Compensation & Employment Group encompasses the broad range of compensation and employment issues faced by the firm’s clients of all sizes and many varied industries. The Group advises clients in all aspects of executive compensation, employee benefits, and employment and labor matters, all within the complex statutory and regulatory framework in which these plans and arrangements exist. We seek to find the most cost- and time-efficient solutions to our client needs, whether in plan design, implementation and administration, or dispute resolution.
