In this session, John will explore jus ad bellum, the principles by which nations may resort to armed conflict under international law, as well as the manner in which national security responsibilities are divided among the three branches of the U.S. government. He will discuss principles of self-defense, collective security, and humanitarian intervention, and address potential limitations on the President’s ability to initiate and sustain hostilities abroad.
