Overview
Serving as Barack Ferrazzano’s Chief Information Officer, James brings more than 20 years of experience in legal technology. He joined the firm in 2021 and was promoted to Chief Information Officer in February 2026. In this role, he leads the firm’s technology strategy and operations, including the development and implementation of solutions that support business objectives, oversight of IT budgets, cybersecurity and data privacy, and leadership of the firm’s IT team.
Before joining Barack Ferrazzano, James spent 19 years at Sidley Austin LLP in roles across its London and Chicago offices, including leadership of its Document Management Systems and SQL teams.
Originally from the United Kingdom, James relocated to Chicago in 2008 and became a U.S. citizen in 2019. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology and Business Management from DePaul University. Outside of work, James is an avid Arsenal F.C. supporter and lifelong soccer fan. He also enjoys traveling, playing video games, and spending time with his two young children.
