Overview
Team RogueBiotics, a group of young scouts from Sugar Grove, Illinois participating in the FIRST LEGO League Competition, visited the offices of Barack Ferrazzano to learn about patents and their legal processes from the leader of the Patent Law section of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Group, David Bluestone.
The team came prepared to meet with David with a provisional application they prepared for their children’s LEGO robotics patent. David, who has a technical background in electrical engineering and an in-depth understanding of electrical, mechanical and software matters, was a perfect fit to walk the scouts through their LEGO robotics patent idea. The scouts were thrilled to learn about patent law from David, as well has hear personal stories from him, including why he became a patent lawyer in the first place.
We’re wishing Team RogueBiotics good luck during the FIRST LEGO League Competition taking place on January 8, 2018!
FIRST LEGO League
With adult Coaches to guide them, FIRST LEGO League teams (up to 10 members) apply science, engineering, and math concepts, plus a big dose of imagination, to develop solutions to real-world challenges. They also design, build, and program LEGO MINDSTORMS®-based robots to perform autonomous “missions” on a playing field. Along the way, they develop critical thinking, team-building, and presentation skills.
