Shapiro: Electoral College’s bad rap is undeserved

Robert E. Shapiro

On December 14, 2012, an article written by Barack Ferrazzano’s Robert Shapiro was published in the Southtown Star, a Chicago Sun-Times publication. In this article, Rob addresses the criticisms of the Electoral College system by describing how it is designed to reward more moderate presidential candidates who address the needs of people from multiple areas of the country. Shapiro is also an adjunct professor of philosophy at Saint Xavier University in Chicago and has written other articles and spoke about the American government and its electoral system. Days before the presidential election, he was asked to participate in a discussion about the effects of the Electoral College on the election on ABC 7’s NewsViews.
