5 Things Appraisers Need to Know When Working on Commercial Bankruptcies

William J. Barrett, Chair of Barack Ferrazzano's Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights Group, authored "5 Things Appraisers Need to Know When Working on Commercial Bankruptcies," in the Fourth Quarter 2013 issue of Valuation, a magazine published by the American Appraisal Institute.

Bill's article discusses single-asset real estate cases and the importance of appraisers and appraisals in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.  He explains the role of the appraiser in the "cram-down" process by which secured debt can be restructured and forced upon secured creditors.   Click here to view the full article.

Bill has been involved in the representation of debtors and creditors' committees in large Chapter 11 cases (including Kmart Corporation and Comdisco, Inc.) and has, among other things, represented secured creditors in bankruptcy cases.
