Rob Shapiro Featured on CLTV's Politics Tonight Where He Discussed Nuclear Deal With Iran and Relations With Cuba
On CLTV's Politics Tonight, Barack Ferrazzano Partner Rob Shapiro discussed the alternatives to the negotiated deal with Iran, which is now awaiting Congressional approval, concerning Iran's nuclear program. Rob explained there were several alternatives to this deal. The situation could be left as it is with other nations in the region continuing to monitor it as they are currently doing, or, a better agreement could be negotiated. He emphasized that it is much more difficult to negotiate with a country that has acquired a bomb than a country which is trying to acquire a bomb. So we must ask ourselves if this is a better situation than what we had. Congress may argue that this is not a good deal and, admittedly, there are problems with it. However, is this deal likely to slow or prevent Iran's attainment of a nuclear bomb? That is how to evaluate whether this is a good deal or not.
Rob also discussed the restoration of full diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba. He explains that this was brought about in a "generational" way, backed by young people who have no historical understanding of the relationship with Cuba, including such events as the Cuban revolution, the Bay of Pigs, and the Cuban missile crisis. They've seen the United States establish relations with other countries with which it has been hostile in the past and they feel we should now also have relations with Cuba.
