John Geiringer Advises Banks Approaching $10B Threshold How CFPB Differs From Other Regulators

Barack Ferrazzano Partner John Geiringer was interviewed by SNL Financial with respect to the unique regulatory role of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB").

John commented that the CFPB generally lacks the safety and soundness concerns that other regulators must balance, and on the fact that there may be heightened compliance expectations for banks that become regulated by the CFPB.

John observed that such banks must be mindful not only of objective requirements of the law, but also the subjective elements of avoiding unfair, deceptive or abusive acts or practices, which are not so clear.
