John Freechack, the head of Barack Ferrazzano's Financial Institutions Group, and John Geiringer, the head of the regulatory practice, were the kick-off speakers at the general session of the 2011 Compliance Summit. The conference was held January 27-28, 2011 at the Marriott Coronado Island Resort in San Diego, California. Former Senator Chris Dodd, co-author of the Dodd-Frank Act, was the keynote speaker at the conference.
This 90-minute moderated roundtable, "Bank on Trial," is a case study that incorporates hundreds of enforcement actions, warning how financial institutions get into trouble, the lessons to be learned and the risk mitigation practices that actually deliver results. John Freechack and John Geiringer serve as legal advisers to dozens of bank boards, and share the inside knowledge they have gained from guiding their clients through all kinds of regulatory inquiries, investigations and challenges.
