PILI: Cultivating a Lifelong Commitment to Public Interest Law for 35 years and counting…
Chicago’s Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) celebrated its 35th year anniversary this season. On Thursday, November 29th PILI held its 35th Anniversary Awards Luncheon and debuted a video highlighting the group’s work and devotion to public service for the past 35 years. In the video Barack Ferrazzano’s Sarah Bernstein talks about the broad exposure of pro bono work PILI can provide for attorneys at any stage of their career. Sarah has been an active member of the PILI community for several years. She began serving on various committees in 2008 and has been a member of the PILI Board of Directors since spring 2010. In July 2012 Sarah was elected and now serves as Treasurer to the PILI Board of Directors.
Since 1977, PILI has been dedicated to improving awareness of public interest law and the need for legal services for the poor in Chicago. Over the last 35 years PILI has provided a unique experience for Chicago law students, recent graduates, and alumni to participate in public interest and pro bono work in Illinois.
