Randy is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation group. He also is a senior member of its automotive group.

Randy has a broad range of experience as a commercial litigator. His cases have included matters involving bankruptcy, franchise, professional liability, real estate and securities issues. Randy is regularly retained by clients to assist them in structuring strategies to resolve business disputes prior to litigation.

Randy also spends a significant amount of his time providing general counsel services for his clients. With assistance from other attorneys in the firm, he regularly counsels clients on matters relating to business development, corporate structuring, human resource management, intellectual property, marketing, and other matters.

Randy focuses much of his practice on representing automobile manufacturers.  Randy frequently counsels manufacturer clients with respect to their development of franchising standards, policies, and procedures. He also represents manufacturer clients on a nationwide basis in a variety of litigation disputes with dealers, including disputes relating to franchisee establishments, relocations and terminations, warranty reimbursement policies, product allocation systems, facility regulations, advertising requirements, trademark uses, franchise transfers, site control restrictions, and dealer bankruptcies.  Randy has litigated numerous matters involving challenges to state legislation regulating the automobile industry. He successfully has argued several cases before state supreme courts involving challenges to the constitutionality of state statutes.

Randy also performs significant legal work relating to attempts by third parties to impose liability on franchisors for the behavior of their dealers. He has litigated numerous cases in this area, including a nationwide consumer class action seeking to impose liability for alleged dealer discriminatory conduct. He also has written and spoken on this topic. In addition, Randy regularly counsels franchisor clients on the development of processes and procedures for encouraging appropriate dealer treatment of retail customers.

Randy is a member of the boards of several not-for-profit organizations. He also works with not-for-profit organizations on a pro bono basis. In addition, Randy is the co-chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee.
