Sharon Calhoun is currently on a leave of absence from her practice at Barack Ferrazzano to perform pro bono legal work in South Africa. Her expected return date is July 1, 2012. Sharon was recently profiled in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin regarding her international pro bono work. Sharon is also guest blogging about her South African pro bono experience for the American Bar Association's Center for Pro Bono.
Sharon is a member of the firm’s general litigation and automotive practice groups.
Sharon’s general litigation practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation for a variety of domestic and international clients in disputes involving general contract matters, class action defense, banking and enforcement issues, employment disputes, and consumer fraud, among others.
As a member of the firm’s automotive group, Sharon litigates complex commercial disputes for automobile manufacturers in venues throughout the United States. Such matters include disputes relating to the termination of dealers, the enforcement of manufacturer corporate identity standards, and franchise transfers.
Sharon also has an active pro bono practice and has served as a guardian ad litem for children involved in domestic disputes related to guardianship and parental rights. Sharon has also successfully represented a minor in Cook County criminal court.
Sharon is an active member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, Recruiting Committee, and Diversity Committee.
