Barack Ferrazzano expands litigation practice
Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP, a Chicago-based full-service law firm, welcomes six new attorneys to the firm's litigation group.
Michael Elvin joins the firm as a partner in the litigation group. Michael has represented clients in complex litigation and government contracting matters for more than twenty years. He represents clients in all types of litigation, including commercial and business litigation, employment litigation, products liability litigation, multi-district litigation, and appellate litigation. Michael practices in both state and federal courts; has tried cases in both state and federal courts and in arbitrations; has conducted preliminary injunction hearings in cases seeking to enforce restrictive employment covenants; and has briefed and argued federal and state court appeals. His clients have included a large medical device company, a fuel wholesaler, various manufacturing companies and real estate developers.
Livia Kiser joins the firm as a partner in the commercial litigation and automotive groups. Liv has obtained very favorable results for her clients in the complex commercial disputes she handles and has significant experience at every stage of litigation, including removal, consolidation, managing fact and expert discovery, defeating class certification, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, and trial and appellate practice. She routinely appears in state and federal tribunals and before arbitration panels and administrative hearing officers throughout the United States, including the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
Alison Leff Triggs joins the firm as an associate in the litigation group. She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation involving breach of contract, employment disputes, and consumer fraud, among other matters. Alison represents individual and corporate clients in state and federal court.
Andrew Nieland joins the firm as an associate in the automotive and commercial litigation groups. He represents automobile manufacturers and distributors in disputes with dealers involving contract rights and obligations, state franchising regulations, and federal civil rights law. Andrew has also represented clients in contract disputes, copyright infringement actions and other intellectual property matters, securities fraud actions, and consumer fraud class actions.
Andrew Spangler joins the firm as a partner in the litigation group. He concentrates his practice on regulatory matters and complex commercial litigation, including telecommunications, medical device product liability defense, construction and mechanics liens, government contracting, employee restrictive covenants, insurance coverage and subrogation, and complex contract disputes. Andrew has represented clients in trials, appeals, and regulatory appeals in state and federal courts throughout the United States.
Owen Smith joins the firm as an associate in the litigation group. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, including securities, antitrust, general contract disputes, and intellectual property matters. Prior to joining Barack Ferrazzano, Owen practiced at Sidley Austin LLP in New York.
